Connecting communities with the wonders of our ocean
Ocean Educator is dedicated to fostering a deep understanding of marine ecosystems and the critical importance of ocean health. We believe that education is the foundation for lasting environmental change.
Based in Hillsdale, Michigan, we bring ocean education to communities far from the coast, proving that everyone can be an ocean steward regardless of where they live.
Rachel Dreyer founded Ocean Educator to bring the wonders of marine science to communities everywhere. Her journey began with Zoology studies at Michigan State University and blossomed into a lifelong passion for ocean conservation.
From 2009 to 2014, Rachel worked at the prestigious Mote Marine Laboratory, where she gained invaluable experience in marine research and education. Her travels have taken her across continents, from North America to Oceania and Australia, studying diverse marine ecosystems.
A proud mother of two, Rachel is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of ocean advocates, believing that education is the key to protecting our blue planet for future generations.

Understanding the threats to our marine ecosystems
Every year, millions of tons of plastic and other pollutants enter our oceans, devastating marine life and ecosystems. From microplastics in the food chain to massive garbage patches, the problem affects every corner of the globe.
But there's hope. Through education and community action, we can turn the tide on ocean pollution. Every choice we make - from reducing single-use plastics to supporting clean water initiatives - makes a difference.
